We’re proud to celebrate our founder, Leroy Berrones Soto, who was recently featured in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) – Key Lessons Learned video.
Produced by JBS International for the Children’s Bureau within the Administration for Children and Families, the video brings together youth with lived experience, child welfare leaders, and national experts to discuss how the National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) helps improve outcomes for young people transitioning from foster care. The conversation explores how data, continuous quality improvement (CQI), community partnerships, and youth perspectives can strengthen housing, education, employment, and lifelong connections.
Leroy’s participation reflects a commitment that has guided the Texas Alliance for Youth Success (TAFYS) since its founding: the voices of young people with lived experience belong at the center of decisions that affect them. By sharing his experiences and perspective, Leroy joined a national conversation focused on creating stronger systems and better opportunities for current and future generations of youth.
At TAFYS, we believe lived experience is expertise. We are honored to see our founder contribute to a discussion that recognizes the value of youth leadership and the importance of listening to those who have navigated the foster care system firsthand.
